On the July episode of The Beef Brief, Hunter Jones, our Head of Rancher Sales, joins Sara Cover, Supply Development Manager at Greater Omaha Packing.
The episode picks up quick, getting into the four management practices that qualify a ranch, why Hunter refuses to say “consolidate” when he means combining herds, and the two objections he hears in every pickup: that carbon has to be a “government scheme,” and that whatever works elsewhere will never work here. Turns out things aren’t always as they seem. Hunter also walks through what shifts on a ranch when rest days go up; more standing forage, less hay and cake, water that soaks in instead of running off to the neighbor’s place, and natives turning up in Bermuda fields that nobody planted and nobody paid for.
The best part comes last, when Sara asks what excites him most. Hunter skips past the credits entirely and lands on the important part: an extra revenue stream gives the next generation a way to come home.
