Grassroots Carbon has teamed up with SALOC, UTSA, and UIW to help make the 2025 NCAA Men’s Final Four in San Antonio the most regenerative men’s basketball championship in NCAA history, in a uniquely Texas way!
Carbon Impact of March Madness
Grassroots Carbon is working with students and professors at UIW and UTSA to produce a Life Cycle Assessment for the San Antonio Men’s Final Four to identify, manage and offset emissions and we are looking for support from San Antonio business leaders to support this work.
The outcome of this work will be a public report published in Q2 2025, following the conclusion of the Men’s Final Four Championship Game in San Antonio on April 7th.
Students from UTSA and UIW will continue their collaboration with Grassroots Carbon through internship opportunities, extending the impact of this initiative beyond the event.
All soil carbon removal credits will be generated from Texas grasslands protected under conservation easement with the Texas Agricultural Land Trust, hoping to set a new benchmark for major sporting events to come while ensuring that the San Antonio Men’s Final Four’s emissions are permanently removed and managed
